Apartment Hunting

Last night my dreams all had a theme.

In the first dream I had my husband call up one of my old friends and ask him if we could buy out his apartment lease. I wasn't sure how we'd get his roommates out so we could have the place for just our family. I then realized the apartment was three bedrooms, not two, and what would we need a third bedroom for? Then we reasoned it would be ok because we would probably have two kids by the time we moved out of the apartment.

In my next dream, we went to look at the basement apartment of a coworker who happens to live around the corner from us. He wasn't there to let us in, but it was unlocked so we let ourselves in. The current tenants' things were all over the place. It was one giant room, studio apartment style, but so much bigger than our current apartment. Even without the walls, I wanted it.

I woke up several times in the night, but this dream continued the rest of the night. I kept finding myself back at this home, both in the basement apartment and the main part of the house.

Second Mission

I had a dream last night that I went on a second mission. I was happy to go, but it was a lot harder to not hug guys this time around. I realized I must have gotten really used to it since my first mission.

I was with my companions looking for clothes to wear. Then we were packing for transfers.

I was surrounded by other missionaries in a gym, like a zone conference or transfer meeting or something (maybe transfer meeting, since I had been packing for it), and I really wanted to hug all the elders. At some point I realized I was pregnant, and wondered what they would do with a pregnant missionary. Then I remembered that it was ok because I was married. My husband showed up at the transfer meeting, also on another mission, but we weren't on a couples mission. If I thought it was hard to not hug the other guys, it was nothing compared to how hard it was not to hug my husband. Eventually I gave in and did it anyway, with him sitting in a chair and me standing behind him with my arms around his neck.

Being Bold: At Work, In My Family, In My Faith

I had a lot of vivid dreams last night.

I had a dream I was at work, with the other women at work, only the work we were doing was a little different than the usual legal work we do. We were in teams and had all sorts of projects that we would get points for. Some projects were games, like how many items we could pick up in a certain time period. Others were chores, like baking and doing dishes. We might have had small legal projects, but the other things stood out more prominently in my dream. A male supervisor came in and got on one coworker's case for not doing dishes. I stood up and chewed him out for not treating us the way he treated the men. They got to work on complex murder cases and never had to do dishes. They never got chewed out for not getting things done on time. We got the menial tasks. Afterward, I was really afraid of backlash, but all the women were really proud of what I'd done. A few things changed, but the supervisor was still very dismissive of women and their ideas. One woman had asked about the legality of releasing a prisoner, and he didn't even listen to all that she had to say before telling her it wasn't possible. I chewed him out for that, too. I explained that he was technically correct, but he could have been a lot kinder by listening to everything she had to say and explaining why it wasn't possible right now but how it could be possible in the future. Once again I was afraid of backlash that didn't really come.

I had another dream I was talking to my cousin about her daughter, who had suddenly developed separation anxiety. I hoped that my desire to work part time after having a child won't cause separation anxiety for him or her.

In another dream, I was talking with a couple who had marital and spiritual problems. The husband might have been mad at the wife for having mental health or drug problems. I told the wife that I didn't understand everything she had been through, but that Jesus Christ did. The couple felt the love of God as I said that and we're able to heal. They had two children who had died that they were finally able to be at peace about.

A Mansion and Ghosts

So many strange dreams last night! I can't even remember them all. I know I had dreams of my brother dying. Once was playing football. These dreams made me really sad. I had a dream my parents lived in this huge mansion with a tower. I was staying in the tower because I liked it there. I think it was Christmas. Even though the mansion was in Ventura, CA, it had snowed. My parents were really sad to tell me something, it might have been that I was adopted. Some carolers came to the door. I knew them from night school. My parents invited them in. I didn't want to be seen, but I was on the ground floor level and couldn't make it up the stairs to get back to the tower without being seen. I could make it down the stairs to the basement though. From there I could take the elevator to my tower. The elevator went side to side as well as up and down. I wasn't let off near my room though. I was on the roof, and the snow had melted and there were people everywhere. It was a huge party. My parents were giving away holiday cake pans as party favors. I ran into some mission friends at the party, and we were talking about how on our missions we would hang out and sleep in the tower. (I think that relates back to an earlier part of the dream that I can't remember.) After waking up and telling my husband of that dream, I fell back asleep and had another strange dream. I was in the mansion from the previous dream. I wasn't in my tower, but I was on the second story. To my surprise, there was a door going to the outside which was opened just a crack. Standing outside were a couple of men dressed in clothes from another century who wanted to talk to me. Because I was a little bit freaked out, I said no and closed and locked the door. Then my mom opened the door. They again asked for me, but she told them I wasn't available. The started leaving. I asked my mom what they had wanted to talk to me about, and she said she didn't know. I got curious, and followed them until I caught up with them. Their faces were pale. I figured they were ghosts. I followed them back to an apartment which was full of ghosts. They said they needed my help with the neighboring apartment. It had a bathtub full of poop, and this was a problem for them. They had removed a piece of the wall in the closet so I could get in to the adjoining apartment. I slipped in. In the first room I entered, there were a baby and toddler. In the back room, I saw the parents watching tv with two more babies. I picked up a baby and ducked behind one of the couches so they wouldn't see me. Staying out of sight was harder than I thought it would be, because even though I was behind the couch they were sitting on and they were looking toward the tv, there was a mirror on the wall that I could be seen in. Eventually they discovered me. I told them I was a maid sent by the home owners association. They were happy that's why I was there, and even cleaned up the bathtub on their own.

Babies

The other night I had a dream with several babies in it. Or I had several dreams about babies. In one dream I was holding my cousin's premie baby. I think something was happening where we needed to protect her but I'm not sure what. In another dream, some friends had a baby. I couldn't figure out who the baby looked like, because he didn't seem to look like either one of them. Then I realized the baby had his mom's eyes and his dad's chin. In yet another dream, I was taking care of my visiting teacher's son. I wanted him to go down for a nap because I had work I needed to do. But he wanted to play Duplos (the Legos that are bigger so that younger kids can play with them without the choking hazard). I think I did lay down to cuddle him to sleep, but I don't know of he ever fell asleep.

White Collar and Burn Notice

White Collar met Burn Notice in my dreams last night. They were being filmed in the same area, and it was not New York or Miami. It was a town that must have been really far north because it was really cold there. So cold that there were streams of warm water running through the town in a canal system that people traveled in rather than walking on the roads. Not only were the shows being filmed in the same place, they were using the same actors. They would film one episode of one show, then the main actors would switch out and they would film the other show. I'm not sure what either episode was about. My next dream was all White Collar. Neil lived in a different apartment but was still under house arrest. Sarah was pulling off some scheme. I think they stole a bunch of little stuff from a Walmart type store. I don't know why or how they thought they were going to get away with it though. Sarah was also running some scheme to get guys to buy her lingerie. And this fat girl was in love with Neil and really thought she would have a chance if she could get rid of Sarah somehow.

Encounter with the Police

I had a dream I was running from the police for some reason, I can't remember why. I know I had a handcuff key in my right hand and a couple of manuals in my arm. Maybe I was trying to break someone out of jail or something. Anyway, I was running around with my visiting teaching companion, and one policeman got us in a big conference room. There was a big table and lots of chairs between us. He was focused on me, like he knew I had the handcuff key or something. He tried shooting me with his taser a few times, but I was too far away, even with the little wires that shoot out of the taser. Finally he got me, but it really didn't hurt. In fact, I could barely feel it. While I was being tased, my visiting teaching companion escaped out of the room and down to a lower level of the building. I also managed to put the handcuff key in my pocket, hoping it wouldn't be found. I don't think it was the policeman talked to me for a minute, then was ready to let me go. And that's when he started hitting on me. He asked if he could see me in December to go to a promenade. At first I was confused, then realized what he was asking me. I told him he'd see me in court if this incident led to a hearing, but I don't know if I'd see him again outside of that. He didn't seem too let down, and even still had some hope that I'd change my mind and go out with him. I went off to find my visiting teaching companion. She had been attacked with water balloons filled with paint, but had either dodged them all or was already cleaned up. We walked through the mall, hoping we would blend in enough with everyone else there to get to where we wanted to go.
